New Signs Highlight Rock Park’s History And Facilities
Four information panels have been installed at Rock Park giving details of the park’s facilities and history.
Rock Park Trust, which manages the park on behalf of the town, agreed the design in July following comments from park users that more information was needed.
The panels were designed by Barnstaple Town Council Design Manager Julie Parker, and made and installed by local business The Design Shop. They provide a map, along with details of sporting, recreational, ceremonial and other facilities in and around the park. They also incorporate a history of the park and Barnstaple benefactor William Rock who gave the park to the town in 1879.
Town Mayor and Chairman of the Rock Park Trust Management Committee, Cllr Mrs Val Elkins, said “We hope the panels will help visitors find all of the great things on offer in Rock Park, and an insight into its history. The design is the same as that used for the information boards in The Strand so we are starting to see a theme running through our leisure and heritage information that we think will be helpful.”
