The Town Council runs a community grants scheme, which opens for applications in late September/early October each year. The deadline for submission of applications is normally the end of November.
Grants are generally only awarded to organisations or partnerships which demonstrate that:
a) They have a need for grant funding. Grants may not be given to any organisation with significant uncommitted funds;
b) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound governance arrangements;
c) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound financial management;
d) The grant will represent good value for money;
e) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sufficient ability to deliver the outcomes anticipated;
f) They have clear policies on equality and inclusion covering service users, subject to recognised exemptions; and
g) Most importantly, the grant provides significant benefit specifically to the community of Barnstaple.
The Council will generally not accept applications from individuals.
The Council currently allocates £17,500 each year for community grants, and in 2017, 26 applications were approved.
When the scheme is open each year, the application form will be available for download from this page.
